| Fields near the little villages of Sankar, near Leh the capital of Ladakh (Indian Himalayas) in early spring. Ladakh is a high altitude desert where agriculture is only possible with irrigation. In April the barren fields are irrigated for the first tim and the manure is being carted onto the fields and the barley is sown. Shortly afterwards the first feeble green of the young barley plats is emerging and the poplars and willows are slowly turning bronze, then green. |
