Pictured is `Spoofer`s Stone` in front of Old Main at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. The large limestone rock was left from the construction of Old Main that was completed in 1875 . An oxcart broke leaving the large piece of limestone behind. The spot became a popular resting spot for students and was also an important part of courtship on campus. During the early history of the university, male and female students were not allowed to mingle. In those days, students sometimes left love notes tucked into crevices of this limestone rock. As time wore on, Spoofer`s Stone became a popular site for marriage proposals. The stone was broken apart when hit by a work truck February 25th, 2020. Master stone carver Jean Pierre Jacquet was able to successfully repair one of the oldest landmarks on the University of Arkansas campus.
