An upward looking view of Antelope Canyon, a slot canyon in the American Southwest on Navajo land near Page, Arizona. Antelope Canyon was formed by the erosion of the sandstone walls due to flash flooding which fills the slot canyon with water. This fast moving water, which picks up loose sand as it travels through the canyon, erodes, smooths, and polished the canyon walls over time. As the light illuminates the smoothed canyon walls, the results can be quite beautiful, as this photo shows. This photo was taken of Antelope Canyon X, which is at the southernmost end of Antelope Canyon.
