This Beaux Arts style house from 1881 is very attractive, in the very well maintained Pacific Heights part of San Francisco, but that in itself is not what makes it intriguing. In the front of the house is a brass plaque proclaiming that none other than Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, a medical doctor who is best known as the author of Sherlock Holmes, lived here. Although Conan Doyle and his wife did visit San Francisco, it was shown they were staying at The Cliff House when they made a brief visit here, to meet with the true occupant, Dr. Albert Abrams, in 1923.
