Notre Dame de ValÃÂ¨re (Basilique de ValÃÂ¨re), also called ValÃÂ¨re Castle (ChÃÂ¢teau de ValÃÂ¨re), is a fortified church situated in Sion in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It is situated on a hill and faces the ChÃÂ¢teau de Tourbillon, located on the opposite hill. The Notre-Dame de ValÃÂ¨re was built during the 12th and 13th centuries. Sion (Sitten, Sedundum) is the capital of the Swiss canton of Valais.
