This is a two tier waterfall and the second highest in India with a drop of nearly 399 meters.
The Budhabalanga River flowing north along a broad plateau through the Simlipal forests in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha takes a westerly turn, dropping over a broad cliff face into a pool below, after which it flows north again.
The waterfall is a major tourist attraction located in sylvan forest and can be visited round the year, although like all other waterfalls in India is at its best during the monsoon.
