Sianok canyon is a steep valley ravine located on the border of the city of Bukittinggi, in the IV Koto sub-district, Agam Regency, West Sumatra. This valley extends and winds as the city boundary from the south of the Koto Gadang gorge to the village of Sianok Anam Suku, and ends at Palupuh sub-district. Sianok canyon has a very beautiful view and is also one of the mainstay tourist attractions of the province. Sianok canyon, which is about 100 m deep, stretches for 15 km with a width of about 200 m, and is part of a fault that separates the island of Sumatra into two longitudinal sections the Semangko fault. This fault forms a steep, even perpendicular wall and forms a green valley - the result of the downward movement of the earth`s crust synclinal - through which Batang Sianok rod means river, in Minangkabau language flows.
