Lahat was Major General in the Israel Defense Force and became a very popular Likud Party politician in the usually left-wing city of Tel Aviv-Yafo by being pragramatic, tolerant, and progressive. He was mayor for 19 years. Lahat died on October 1, 2014 at the age of 86. |
