Gyeongbokgung is a former royal palace in Seoul, South Korea. It was the first royal palace of the Joseon dynasty, having been established in 1395. Rebuilt in the 19th century, Gyeongbokgung featured more than 500 buildings that combined ancient Chinese architecture with Joseon dynasty tradition. Gyeongbokgung Palace is arguably the most beautiful and remains the largest of all five palaces. Changdeokgung was the principal palace for many kings of the Joseon dynasty and is the most well-preserved of the five remaining royal Joseon palaces.
