San Francisco`s Sentinel Building, always referred to as The Columbus Building because of its location on San Francisco`s Columbus street bridging North Beach and Chinatown. Construction began in 1904, but because of the distractive earthquake of 1906, this small building was not completed until 1907. Built by Abe Ruef as his political headquarters on the upper floors, this building has seen many uses and a few owners. Currently owned by film studio American Zoetrope, the ground floor cafe is now named for them.
