Wat Mahathat Worawihan is a royal temple located in the old center of Phetchaburi town. Its founding date is unknown but it is believed that the temple dates back to the late Mon Dvaravati era or the Khmer era, during the 11th to 13th century. Constructed in the distinctive Khmer style, its most eye catching features are the 5 white prangs or spires towering above the area. The temple is also known for its extensive fine stucco work. |
