| Due to all the turmoil going on throughout France in the latter part of the 19th century, Modeleine Sophie Barat founded the Catholic Schools of the Sacred Heart in 1801 to educate young woman for broad-reaching social change. Now in some 44 countries, the San Francisco one was founded in 1887. Maud Flood, a philanthropist, had this, one of her mansions, donated to the school, after her husband died and children all moved out. Before this house could be built though, the house already occupying the lot had to be moved. |
