A comfortable two-hour hike is the best way to discover the wonderful contrasts that El Hierro holds. The La Llania trail, one of the island's most popular, departs from Valverde, in the northeast, and explores landscapes that are almost enchanting. El Brezal, a dense, humid forest, leads to fern-covered paths that lead to softer, bare soils and the black sands of one of the island's best-preserved calderas, which precede the magnificent landscape of the Gulf. It's a seven-kilometer round trip full of magic and beauty. El Hierro, nicknamed Isla del Meridiano, the "Meridian Island", is the southernmost and westernmost of the Canary Islands. El Hierro is situated in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa, its capital is Valverde.
