It is dedicated to Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, popularly known as Padre Pio, one of the most beloved and revered saints of the 20th century.Padre Pio was a Capuchin friar who lived in San Giovanni Rotondo from 1916 until his death in 1968. He was known for his piety, compassion, and the stigmata (wounds of Christ) that appeared on his hands, feet, and side. During his lifetime, he gained a large following of devotees who sought his spiritual guidance and healing. |
