Sankt Goar and Sank Goarshausen are the northern end small town at the Lorelei passage. The Loreley rock is also written Lorelei sometimes, historically several versions can be found. Still in modern days this narrow part of the Mittelrheintal is a rather dangerous river section. During the summer drought the sandbanks and reef rocks are visible above water level. The whole Middle Rhine area is UNESCO world heritage. Around the are there are several castles and ruins
