Sankt Goar is one of the small town at the entry to the Loerelei passage. The Loreley rock is also written Lorelei sometimes, historically several versions can be found. The legendary slate rock is located at the Rhine gorge south of Sankt Goar and Sank Goarshausen. Still in modern days this narrow part of the Mittelrheintal is a rather dangerous river section. The whole Middle Rhine area is UNESCO world heritage
