Gerdab-e-Sangi is the 1600-year-old Sassanian stone reservoir, 18 m in diameter, said to be the world’s oldest. Spring water wells up within and once provided the proto-city’s water supply. Behind is a steep rocky slope indented with caves said to have been home to early humans around 40000 years ago.
