| The tower was built on Brandon Hill in the 1890s to celebrate the 400th Anniversary of the journey of John Cabot from Bristol to land that became Canada. The Marrquis of Dufferin an Ava laid the foundation stone on 24th June 1897. Architect was William Venn Gough. The tower is 105 feet high and built from sandstone with cream Bath Stone for the decoration. I has a spiral staircase and 2 viewing platforms. It is supported by diagonal buttresses and is topped by flying buttresss. |
