| This Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) was named after US Senator Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot during the 2011 shooting in Tucson, Arizona. It is the 16th ship to be named for a woman and only the 13th ship to be named for a living person since 1850. This ship was commissioned in June of 2017. |
