salta, also called Salta la Linda (Salta Pretty), is the historical capital of one of the largest and most beautiful provinces of Argentina, bearing the same name. Salta is a charming city located in the north-west of the country, in the Andes, which is full of mysterious, picturesque places. The city is famous for its monuments dating back to colonial times. Travelers' special attention is attracted by rich museum exhibitions, e.g. Museo de Arqueologia de Alta Montana or Museo Historico del Norte, a beautiful church, the symbol of Salta - Iglesia San Francisco and a handicraft market. A breathtaking view of the city and surrounding area can be admired from the San Bernardo viewpoint. However, Salta is not only monuments and museums. It is also an ideal starting point for the numerous attractions the province has to offer. And there are quite a lot of them! The region is diverse - there are the cloud forests of El Rey National Park, where you can meet toucans and tapirs. Trees give way to lush grass on the Mesada de las Colmenas plateau, home to endangered pumas and jaguars. In turn, Serrania de Calilegua is a land of red canyons. It is also worth mentioning that Salta is the number 2 wine region in Argentina, where green vineyards cover the mountain slopes. This is a place for persistent explorers who are never short of adventure!
