The bridge was built in place of another existing bridge in the same place and was named after the king who founded the city of Oradea.The bridge was put into use in 2016 and retains the four lookout balconies of its predecessor. The ornaments mounted on the bridge symbolize a stylized tulip, reinterpreted from a modern perspective, being a floral motif also found on the gate of Darvas La Roche House, a landmark of Art Nouveau architecture in Oradea. Oradea is a city in Romania, located in Crisana, a sub-region of Transylvania. Seat of the Bihor county, Oradea is one of the most important economic, social and cultural centers in the western part of Romania. The city is located in the north-west of the country, nestled between hills on the Crisana plain, on the banks of the river Crisul Repede, that divides the city into almost equal halves.
