| The Sacred Heart Mission was established in 1876 offering an Indian boys school, monastery, college church and later became a convent and school for girls. Destroyed by fire in 1901 the mission was re-built. The present church begun in 1905 and was completed in 1914. The church remains but the priority was closed permanently in 1965. The mission is located in Pottawatomie County near Asher near Oklahoma and is now considered a ghost town. |
