The Rumeli Fortress, also known as the Boğazkesen fortress, is located in the Sarıyer district of the Istanbul province and in the Bosphorus. The Rumeli fortress was built by Fatih Sultan Mehmet directly opposite the Anatolian fortress before the conquest of Istanbul in order to prevent the attacks from the northern part of the strait. The area where the fortress is located is the narrowest part of the strait. The construction of the fortress lasted 90 days. The fortress, which has the biggest castle towers in the world, has 3 large towers.
