Wat Saphan Hin The Temple of the Stone Bridge is a small but historically significant Buddhist temple on top of a hill, facing old Sukhothai town, near the West zone entrance gate of the park. It is known for its 12m high standing Buddha image overlooking the plains. Its name refers to the 200m elevated pathway leading up the hillside. At the summit, stands the ruins of the assembly hall viharn & the large Phra Attharot Buddha image facing east toward the rising sun, poised with an upraised right hand in the mudra of `dispelling fear`, a common theme in Sukhothai art. |
