The ruins of the Temple of Hathor, which was dedicated by Ramses II to his most beloved wife Nefertari, at Abu Simbel in Egypt. Built on the west bank of the River Nile between 1274 and 1244 BC, it was swallowd up by the moving desert sands and remained hidden until its rediscovery in 1813. The temple was relocated to higher land between 1964 and 1968 after the construction of the Aswan High Dam.
