| Castle Ascog, situated beside Loch Ascog, was a square keep, built in the early 15th century. In 1870 its random rubble walls are described as of considerable height and thickness, but it is now much dilapidated, roofless with its E wall destroyed. It was a stronghold of the Lamonts of Ascog until destroyed by the Marquis of Argyll in 1646 after a siege. |
