Singer, songwriter Kris Kristofferson performs with then wife Rita Coolidge at the Convention Hall in Asbury Park, New Jersey in July, 1975. Known for his brand of `outlaw` country music, Kristofferson, also a screen actor, was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2004. Before becoming a professional performer he excelled in academics at Pomona College in California and Oxford University in England, and as an athlete in rugby and boxing. In the military he was a skilled helicopter pilot. Coolidge is a singer, actress and double Grammy winner. They were married from 1973-1980. He died on Sept. 28, 2024, in Maui, Hawaii, at the age of 88.
