| This retro cannon is located in a field at Ft. Phantom Hill in Jones County,Texas. Ft Phantom was established in 1851 as one in a line of forts to provide protection for the migrants on their way to California. Being an inhospitable location,it was abandoned in 1854. The 82 acre fort was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. You can still see 3 structures and 12 chimneys from the original construction of the fort. |
