| Old six story tall flour mill was the largest in the state of Iowa when constructed in 1867 along the banks of the Wapsipinicon River in Northeast Iowa in the city of Independence Iowa. The Buchanan county historical society now operates this mill seasonally as a tourist attraction after use as a flour mill discontinued in 1976. The property is listed on the national register of historic places. A bridge across the river spans to the historic downtown also reflecting in the partially frozen waters of the Wapsipinicon river in this Winter photo. |
