The Al Hirschfeld Theatre exterior proudly proclaims it is home to the hit Broadway musical, `Moulin Rouge!` The show, which like all theatrical productions, was brought to a halt in March, 2020, and remained shuttered for 18 months due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In September, 2021 it was awarded 10 Tony Awards including Best Actor and Best Featured Actor in a musical, Aaron Tveit and Danny Burstein. The venue is located at 302 West 45th Street, at 8th Avenue, in mid-town Manhattan. The late Al Hirschfeld was an artist and caricaturist who plied his trade among theater celebrities well into his 90s. The expressions of those who attended the performance reflect in the glass above.
