The Brazilian red-eared turtle Scientific name: Trachemys scripta elegans is a subspecies of the Brazilian colored turtles of the family Turtles and Painted Turtles. The adult is oblong, the carapace is gently raised, the ridge is obvious, and the trailing edge is jagged. The head is wide, and the blunt head and neck have yellow-green vertical stripes, and there are 1 long red patches on each side of the back of the eye.
