| After 157 years of nearly uninterrupted service, London`s Big Ben will stop chiming. Starting on Monday, August 21, 2017, the Elizabeth Tower colloquially known as Big Ben, the name of the largest bell inside will undergo a series of vital renovations, including repairs to the roof, stonework, and the Big Ben`s 13-foot pendulum. Keeper of the Great Clock Steve Jaggs has invited the public to gather in Parliament Square on August 21 at noon `to hear Big Benââ¬â¢s final bongs until they return in 2021. |
