Ram instrument (in Hindi called as ram tantra) built inside the astronomical observatory; a UNESCO world heritage site located capital city of Jaipur Indian states of Rajasthan. This double cylinder device/instrument is used to measure azimuthal and altitudes of celestial bodies. More importantly it is used to measure the altitute of the sun according to the high of the shadow cast by a dark upright pole at its centre. |
