Panamanian director, producer, and drama pedagogue Jose Quintero appears at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC in 1977. Quintero had an extraordinarily productive career on Broadway and Off-Broadway, where he founded the Circle in the Square Theatre in Greenwich Village. He was also a lecturer and teacher, and pedagogue of theater at Florida State and the University of Houston. The Tony-winning director was one of the foremost interpreters of the works of Eugene O`Neill, and he was a member of the American Theater Hall of Fame. He died on February 26, 1999 in New York City from throat cancer at the age of 74. |
