Papilio machaon, The Queen's Page is a fairly rare resident butterfly that can wander north in favorable years. Outside of South Limburg, the Dutch presence is largely determined by wanderers. This species lives in various biotopes, including ruderal terrains and herb-rich grasslands. It flies in two generations between late April and late August. The caterpillar is easy to recognize by the striking green, black and orange markings.
