Competitors line up for the judges and spectators at the 5th annual IFBB Ms Olympia contest for professional women bodybuilders in Montreal,Canada on November 24, 1984. Carolyn Cheshire from the United Kingdom steps forward and flexes when her name is announced as the women are introduced individual to the onlookers. The physiques displayed are somewhat more muscular than earlier years of competition, but nowhere near as buff as they would be 5 years hence. The enhanced proportions were attributable to vastly improved and intense training regimens and the introduction of anabolic steroids and human growth hormones to the supposedly drug-free and tested sport. Among the top athletes in the contest are left to right: Carla Dunlap 4th place, Cory Everson 1s, and Rachel McLish 2nd. This was Everson`s 1st of 6 consecutive Ms `O` titles. Mclish had won the event twice and Dunlap triumphed the previous year.
