| Rock and Roll singer and dancer Chubby Checker entertains at ChicagoFest on August 5, 1979 at the foot of the Navy Pier in Chicago, Illinois. Checker`s heyday was the early 1960s, but he has performed at nostalgia events for decades. Checker, whose real name is Ernest Evans, made `The Twist` in 1960, and it became a global hit and dance craze. He followed it up with `Let`s Twist Again.` He also was a popularizer and influencer of trends and was closely associated with `The Pony` and `Limbo Rock.` |
