Polycythemia vera is an uncommon myeloproliferative disease in which the bone marrow makes too many red blood cells. The majority of cases[2] are caused by mutations in the JAK2 gene. Note the proliferation of atypical megakaryocytes. Bone marrow, HE x500. |
