The current appearance of the monastery was formed only in the 16th century, when the monastery became a place of imprisonment for women nuns of aristocratic families. In the 16th ââ¬â 17th centuries, the monastery was one of the largest in Russia. The Pokrovsky Cathedral 1510ââ¬â1518 is a massive four-pillar structure, standing on a high socle and surrounded on three sides by a two-story open gallery, to which two covered stairs lead. |
