The square is surrounded by painted ceramic benches, representing all the provinces of Spain. It was built for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929, which took place in Seville. The author, Aníbal González, mixed a style inspired by the Renaissance and typical elements of the city: exposed bricks, ceramics and wrought iron elements (work by Domingo Prida). The plan is semicircular and is dominated by 2 towers, one on each side of the enclosure, which frame the central building, where the rooms are located. Between the two towers there is a network of loggias with round arches that allow access to different areas of the square itself, inside which there is a fountain.
