laya Pilar (Pilar Beach), although it is one of the several beaches of Cayo Guillermo, it stands out from all its competitors for it is considered the best in Cuba and, even, one of the best 25 on the whole planet. It is located in the municipality of Morón, in the province of Ciego de Ãvila. It is named after American writer Ernest Hemingway's boat, which popularized the spot in 1970 thanks to his novel Islands in the Stream. It's a strip of fine, shiny sand and warm, turquoise-blue waters that you can't miss on your way to the Jardines del Rey (King's gardens) archipelago in the middle of the Caribbean. The beauty of this beach is accentuated by the splendour of the surrounding nature, an unspoilt natural environment with great visual attractions.
