Lighthouse Pillau. 1813, begins the construction of a lighthouse in stone. The foundation was made of giant granite blocks, surrounded by piles and tightened with forged chains. Three years later, the Pillau Lighthouse was completed. At first, vegetable oil was used as a light source, then cheaper kerosene, then gas lamps, and only on February 8, 1913, the lighthouse switched to electric lighting. Until 1930, the color of the lighthouse was white. Then the top of it turned red
