The real papal basilica of St. Francis of Paola is a minor basilica, located in Piazza del Plebiscito, in the historic center of Naples and is considered one of the finest examples of neoclassical architecture in Italy. The facade is characterized by a portico with six columns in the Ionic order in Carrara marble and two side pillars that hold up the lintel. Above it rests a triangular pediment on which are placed on the left a statue of St. Francis of Paola, on the right a statue of St. Ferdinand and on top a statue of Religion. |
