PHRA PATHOM CHEDI is located in Wat Phra Pathom Chedi or Phra Pathom Chedi Temple in Nakhon Pathom Province, this is the biggest chedi in Thailand. The current chedi was built in 1853 by the order of King Rama IV of Thailand to cover the old chedi which was believed to date back to the 4th century. This new Lanka-style bell-shaped chedi is 120.5 meters in height and 233 meters in perimeter. Enshrined within the chedi is the Buddha relic.Wat Phra Phatom Chedi was restored again in the reign of King Rama VI and it has become the royal temple of the King.Situated in the north arched entrance of the temple is Phra Ruang Rodjanarith,a standing Buddha image in a Granting Pardon Posture built in the reign of King Rama VI. The royal relics of the King were also enshrined at the basement of the Buddha statue.Phra Pathom Chedi Festival takes place from the evening of the full moon of the 12th month to the 5th day of the waning moon of the 12th month every year, totaling nine days nine nights,to allow peopleto pay homage and see the grace of Phra Pathom Chedi.
