This is a freshwater lake, the second largest in Nepal and formerly called Baidam Tal. The lake is located amidst lush vegetation and rolling hills in the Pokhara Valley, south of the Annapurna Range of the Himalayas, at an altitude of 2434 feet. The reflection of the mountain peaks can sometimes be seen in the water on a clear bright day. The sky was overcast when this picture was shot on July 13, 2007. The lake covers an area of 1.7 sq. miles, its maximum depth being about 80 feet. It is fed by a stream, but a dam has been built that regulates the water, making it a semi natural freshwater lake.
Being close to the town of Pokhara, the lake is extremely popular with tourists.
