The Saint-Mathieu lighthouse is located in Pointe Saint-Mathieu, Plougonvelin, near Brest, Finistere. This tower, built in 1835 among the ruins of an ancient abbey, is an important lighthouse on the French coast, whose theoretical reach is 29 nautical miles about 55 km. With one of the Kermorvan, he gives the direction of Channel Four, which followed the ships passing on a north-south before the creation of Ouessant, while its alignment with the lighthouse Portzic gives the route to follow to enter the Brest Gully. The lighthouse has been classified as an historic monument since 23 May 2011
