Hall of Fame NCAA women`s basketball coaches Pat Summit left of the University of Tennessee Lady Vols and C. Vivian Stringer of the Rutgers University Scarlet Knights meet before the tipoff of their game at the Rutgers Athletic Center in Piscataway, New Jersey on December 12, 2013. Both are Hall of Fame head coaches who have won over 1,000 games. Stringer took 3 different schools to the final 4, including 2 in the championship game. Summit coached her squads to innumerable Southeast Conference titles and 8 Division 1 national championships. Her record of 1,119 victories was eclipsed in 2020 by another Hall of Fame coach, Tara VanDerveer of Stanford. Summit died from Alzheimer`s disease on June 28, 2016 at the age of 64.
