Paphiopedilum hirsutissimum - Orchid. Vietnamfound growing in a thick layer of mulch next to tree trunks, on moss-covered rocks and along cliffs. The favorite habitat of the lady's slipper orchid is rock holes where there is a lot of moss and rotting leaves. Mature Venus Paphiopedilum orchids will have 5-6 leaves 16-45 cm long with leaf blades about 1.5-3.0 cm wide. The leaves are green, with purple dots below. This is a single-flower type with quite large flowers that usually bloom in the spring. The flowers are 17 - 25 cm long and covered with a thick layer of hair. Perhaps because of this characteristic, they are also called Hai Long. (This is also a characteristic to distinguish female papilloma from other types of slippers.)
