The visible cells are all normal squamous superficial cells with polygonal shape, pyknotic nuclei and bluish or redish cytoplasm, and some parabasal cells. The abundance of neutrophil leukocytes suggests an acute vaginitis. The main cause is infection by bacteria, candida albicans or trichomonas
