| The Palace of Peter III is situated in territory of the former Peterstadt Fortress, which existed in the 18th century. (1758-1762, Architect: Antonio Rinaldi). Peterstadt was a training fortress, intended for Grand Duke Peter Fedorovich (Prince Karl Peter Ulrich of Holstein-Gottorp, the son of Anna, the daughter of Peter I, and the Duke of Holstein-Gottorp), the future Russian Emperor, Peter III. It was constructed according to all the principles of the art of fortification. There was a miniature palace, where the Emperor took a rest after military trainings. It is a unique palace in Europe in the territory of a fortress and the first construction by Antonio Rinaldi in Oranienbaum.
